Camden Libraries is bringing National Science Week to your home this year with a range of online activities on offer for local children.
The annual celebration, running from Saturday 15 August to Sunday 23 August, shows how science and technology are a normal part of everyday life and how important they are to the future changes including our climate and health.
This year Camden Libraries has partnered with some great science experts to offer activities to engage all local children, including:
- National Science Week has some great experiments you can do at home: including observing backyard wildlife, analysing the weather and classifying insects;
- Quiver Education brings augmented reality to your doorstep. Colour in the activity sheets, download the app on your smartphone and then watch what you created come to life;
- Australian Citizen Science Association (ACSA) wants everyone to know that they can do science at home and make a difference in the scientific world in their free time! Find projects you can do in the Camden area and engage in scientific conversations with others (online); and
- STEAM craft involves an extending jaws crocodile that looks at simple engineering.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli said the exciting program was sure to keep children on their toes throughout Science Week.
“The world consistently looks at science for answers we face and this is a great opportunity for kids to experiment safely at home,” Cr Fedeli said.
“Science week allows students to explore the world and discover new and exciting things and I am glad Camden Libraries has put together such a great program this year.
“I encourage our local families to log in and get experimenting together. I am sure you will all find some amazing things.”
